Dimensions of the Vasa

Hello I am doing a project for school, and I need to know the exact dimensions of the vasa. The project is about how to measure the boats volume with integrals, so I’m going to make a function that shows approximate the silhouette of the boat. So I i will need to have the length of the ship, and the width in all parts. And if you will be able to provide me that I will be so grateful. Thank you for your interest.

  • Hi Sylvia,

The best way to do this would be to use the lines drawing, a graphic representation of the hull form. From this, You can derive any of the dimensions You need, and You can choose how many sections You will use for the calculation. If You will Contact me via email (fred.hocker@smtm.se) I can send You this drawing as a scalable PDF.
You might be interested to compare the calculation using integrals to a common approximation method used for this purpose called Simpson's Rule.
    Good luck!
