  • Dear John,

The guided tour is about 25-30 minutes long.

    Welcome to the Vasa Museum!

    Best Regards,

  • Do you go aboard the vasa?

    Seana
  • Dear Seana,

    Thank you for your question!

Unfortunately museum visitors are not able to go onboard the Vasa. The wood in the hull is too fragile.

Heads of States and Nobel laureates are the only exceptions, and they are sometimes invited onboard with a curator when visiting the Vasa Museum.

The exhibition Life inboard includes a full-scale model of a part of the upper gun deck which visitors may enter.

This is a good web page to prepare for a visit at the Vasa Museum; http://www.vasamuseet.se/en/visit

  • To Whom it may Concern:

I am a member of the Nautical Research Guild and the Gulf Coast Historical Ship Modeling Society in Houston, Texas. I was told by one of our members that Fred Hawker
is on staff at the Museum and that either he or one of you folks could help me to get the most out of visiting the Vasa Museum. I have seen the Mary Rose and the La Belle but the Vasa is the best preserved and most complete by far.

I am involved in building ship models of that era and of course NRG is about trying to build accurate representations of ships. If there are specific things as a modeler you would recommend I see please let me know. We will be there on April 12th and 13th (Friday and Saturday).

Do I need to get tickets ahead of time? Is there a specific tour you would recommend? What times and date is best?

We have heard great reviews and look forward to visit.

    Thanks for you kind attention.

    Sincerely,

    Jim Beal

  • Dear Jim,

I see in your other mail, that you wanted to visit us on May 12th or/and 13th.
I can recommend the Friday, it is probably less visitors than on Saturday, even though it might be crowded both days. If you would like to Contact Ph.D. Director of Research Fred Hocker for a meeting the Friday is also a better option.
Please email the booking office at bokningen.vasa@maritima.se if you have any further questions.

    Best regards,

    Anna Vagge Booking
